Todd’s Case Dismissed

Popular businessman and promoter Corey Todd was freed of assault charges on Wednesday arising from an incident involving deejay Devin Di Dakta last year.

The case was dissmissed at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court in Half-Way-Tree.

Todd was facing charges of malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Allegations are that in January 2016, Devin Di Dakta was taken from a nightclub into the parking lot by several members of Todd’s security team and beaten. The reason given was that the entertainer did a song which was perceived to have been disrespectful to Todd.

Todd’s attorney Peter Champagnie said the charge of assault was dismissed after a brief mediation session between the two men at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

He said his client apologized to Devin di Dakta for the misunderstanding.

Champagnie also said the entertainer indicated that he wanted to withdraw his complaint against Todd.

The mediation session was held after Champagnie suggested that the case was not one for the criminal court, as both men had the capacity to amicably settle their differences.
