Koffee Preps For Coachella Performance And New 2020 Album

Koffee will have to face one of the biggest challenges of her career so far when she performs at Coachella in April. The 19-year-old has been all over the world promoting her message through her music but Coachella is considered one of the pinnacles in terms of performances that an artiste can reach.

She spoke with Highsnobiety recently to discuss her feelings about the upcoming event. She shared that she is eager to perform and has been preparing meticulously to ensure a successful and memorable performance.

“[I’m] excited. We’re really, really preparing. We’re going in. This is why I do my music: so I can be recognized, and get to places like this, so I’m really happy,” she said.

Koffee, whose debut album is expected early this year, also revealed that her love of music came from her frequent attendance of church.

“Ever since I opened my eyes, I’ve always been going to church every week. I learned music there. I fell in love with music there.” This love of music blossomed and she took it with her into high school.

“I started listening to reggae music while in high school, writing my lyrics, playing my guitar. The whole Kingston scene added to my perspective of reggae music and helped me to be the artist I am today,” she continued.

She’s also looking forward to continuing a successful career and credits her success to positivity and moving in the right direction.

“When I realized that it [has been] non-stop, I realized that this must be for me. No breaks. It just keeps going and growing. So therefore this must be my journey, my purpose.”

Koffee shared that she recently took the time to give back to the youth of the Caribbean region, as she continues on her journey to provide a positive mentor.
Last year she went on a tour called “Haffi Mek It” tour, where she performed for students in high schools throughout Jamaica and Antigua.

“I feel like it’s important for me to do it while I’m still close in age to them, because they’re relating to me. They’ll listen to me, cause they feel like I know what they’re going through,” she continued.

This is only the beginning for Koffee as she said she and her team “plan to take it worldwide.” She’s also looking forward to meeting Rihanna who she describes as one of the artistes that she looks up to and is excited to work with.

“I’m looking forward to meeting her and being in the studio with her. She’s really a go-getter. I like that she goes for what she wants and she’s successful at it.”
