Dancehall Queen Spice says she is getting ready to release an EP in the next few months.
The entertainer said that the success of her Captured mixtape, which was released last November, proved that her audience welcomes her compilations just as much as they welcome singles.
“I have had a lot of hit songs over the years. My songs always do well by themselves, and so my focus was never really on releasing albums or EPs, especially because the relationship between my record label and I wasn’t the best,” the Queen of the Dancehall told THE WEEKEND STAR at her birthday bash, held at Mas Camp on Monday night.
“When I released my Captured mixtape, I was overwhelmed at the response it got. The success surpassed all my expectations and completely blew me away, and so I want to continue doing projects like those, as I continue to grow. This EP that I’m working on is going to be special, the fans are going to love it,” Spice said.
The Captured mixtape landed number one on the coveted Billboard Reggae chart two weeks after its release last year, making Spice one of only nine female artistes from Jamaica to hit that mark in the chart’s history.
Spice told THE WEEKEND STAR that when she releases this project, she also expects it to do well.
“My fans always come through for me, and so I always just let things happen the way they are supposed to. I put in the work and just let the success come,” she said.
