Jada Kingdom Gets Buzz From BBC 1Xtra Debut

Jamaican singing sensation Jada Kingdom made her BBC 1Xtra debut earlier this month, and the footage from her performance is still making the rounds on social media.

Kingdom’s 14-minute set on the digital radio programme has been viewed more than 75,000 times on YouTube, and has, according to her, indicated that she and her team are taking steps in the right direction as far as her career is concerned.

Kingdom told THE STAR that 1Xtra initially wanted her to perform to tracks, but after a proposal by her team, she was allowed to deliver her first set on the programme with her band.

“My manager approached 1Xtra and said we want to do something a little different and perform a semi-acoustic set. They were very receptive to the idea, and then my musical director JAXX put together the band, and we started rehearsing. It was really cool to have that opportunity to present my music with my band. To be honest, this is the direction we want to go in rather than performing on tracks. This is the vision we have for how we want to showcase the music,” she said.

“I think visually, and the whole musical vibe really came over well. I’m proud of the performance and want to big up the band. They are amazing, and we will be performing together a lot more moving forward.”

Introduced as someone to look out for in 2019, Kingdom gave a solid performance which saw her delivering songs such as Banana, Love Situations and Better Than That, her collab with dancehall artiste Govana.

She said that the feedback from the show has been overwhelming, and she has been getting requests from persons all over the world who are now interested in doing business with her.

“BBC 1Xtra seems to love it. They actually have been playing the audio from the performance in the daytime on their station in the UK, which is a huge compliment. The video is hosted on their YouTube channel, and the feedback has been really positive,” she said. “It seems to have reached far and wide, as we have had emails and messages, from all over, from people just saying how much they loved the performance, as well as a lot of new business opportunities.”

Kingdom, who released a new track called Business on Valentine’s Day, is also currently promoting Medicine and One Time.
