JAM2 Records recently released an EP from late female singjay J Capri called My Life.
According to producer Jammy James, the eight-track EP was recorded three months prior her tragic death in December 2015.
The set was released on April 14 and distributed by Zojak Worldwide.
“Capri loved all of the tracks, but she had a special love for Give It To Me Again because it had this crossover sound. The rhythm is different and creative. She didn’t even know that Kranium was placed on the track because she died before this was done,” James told Splash.
My Life also features production works from Stephen McGregor, Suku, ZJ Liquid, and Kimani Mlmg.
“Because it was her favourite track, I wanted to do something to create a hype around it and I thought Kranium was the perfect person because he sings with melody and he represented well for the track,” James continued.
James told Splash the intention was to do an album.
“It wasn’t suppose to be an EP but an album that we had started. She went away on tour and she died shortly after she returned to Jamaica,” he said.
Twenty-three-year-old J Capri, whose real name was Jordan Phillips, went in a coma after being involved in a motor vehicle accident in the Barbican area of St Andrew on November 23. She passed away on December 4.
Her last major performance in Jamaica was on Dancehall Night at Reggae Sumfest in July 2015. She is best known for the songs Reverse It and Wine and Kotch.
