Double Murda Debuts On Billboard

MUSIC producer Andre Gordon, more popularly known as DJ Frass, scores his second entry on the Billboard Reggae album chart in eight months.

A six-track EP comprising songs on his Double Murda rhythm debuts at number 11 on the chart with first-week sales of 59 copies. In April last year, Gordon scored a chart-topper with Alkaline’s New Level Unlocked, which he produced.

The Double Murda EP features the songs Badness It Name by Alkaline, Triple Murda by Mavado, Burna by I-Octane, Murda by Flexx and Chase Cross, Dem Bat Fly Gone by Spookie Brain Tear and 3 Star, and Gangsta Nuh Lef Dem Gun by Hazard.

A big mover on the chart this week is From the Basement to the Big Leagues by Baltmore-based dancehall artiste Xyclone. The album debuted at number 14 two weeks ago, with first-week sales of 96 copies.

 The following week it fell to number 37 with 21 copies. This week it jumps to number 12 with 58 copies.

Elsewhere on the Billboard Reggae album chart, Falling into Place, the Grammy-nominated album from Rebelution, moves into the penthouse, displacing Bob Marley & the Wailers’ Legend Live: Santa Barbara Country Bowl November 25th 1979 which falls to number three.

The Marley set has to date sold 1,881, while the Rebelution album has sold over 31,287.

The number two spot is held by Stick Figure’s Set in Stone which shows figures of 24,004 copies, while A Dollar Short, A Minute Late by Hawaiian surfer-turned-singer Landon McNamara is at number four with 888 copies.

Live at Red Rocks by Rebelution falls to number five with 4,178 copies sold to date, while Wash House Ting by Grammy nominee J Boog slips to number six with 3,758 copies.

Stephen Marley’s Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life has to date sold over 10,884 copies. It moves up to number seven. Falling two spots to number eight is New York-based reggae outfit the Frightnrs with Nothing More to Say, which has so far sold 4,840.

Release the Bound (EP) by Matisyahu holds firm in the number nine spot with sales showing 1,313 to date, while Double Up by Iration is at number ten with 1,295 copies.VP Records has a lock on the last three positions in the Top 15.

Its various artistes compilations Strictly the Best Volume 54, Reggae Gold 2016 and Strictly the Best Volume 55 are at numbers 13, 14 and 15, respectively.
