Cuban Leroy Volume 1 by Gappy Ranks is a curious rock-solid approach for a mixtape. And in many respects a brave mixtape created by Gappy with the assistance of 14 other producers on this 17 track album.

This album has components that tells great stories and covers themes of not given up and understand that there will always be haters.

And through the rough experiences with some luck and good choices anyone can be successful. Many of the songs in the album talks about the unwritten rules of life and in many respects kinda gives a road map in a figurative way to remain on track and achieve your goals.

Cuban Leroy doesn’t necessarily feel like a contemporary Dancehall Reggae mixtape, however it has the components to make it a relevant representation for the code of the streets. Gappy Ranks continues to push the boundaries of his sound to include many influences of popular music. With this effort you can expect Gappy to collect some new fans from a non-traditional Caribbean base.

Some songs of note that was enjoyed while going through the 17 tracks included “Addi Shoes”, “Jamaican Girls”, and “Present and Past”. Those singles mentioned are examples of Gappy’s unique and distinct sound, where he does a great job to showcase his talent and demonstration his growth as an artist.
