The Shade Room Posted Shenseea’s Freestyle And Now The Americans Are Comparing Her To Nicki Minaj

Watch: Shenseea Stuns In Jaw Dropping Outfit, Performs New Song In Packed Atlanta Club – DancehallMagThe ShengYeng Queen is proving she has the chops to be the next Queen of Dancehall after her latest share on YouTube today, which also drew comparisons to rapper Nicki Minaj from some American fans.

After snagging the Jamaica Gleaner’s staff-pick for ‘Female Artiste Of The Year’ in an issue yesterday, we now see the Dancehall artiste ripping through a sick freestyle segment with the assist of her resident disc jockey, DJ Black Boy of Romeich Entertainment.

In what Shenseea seemingly thought was just going to be a performance of her previously released single Bad Habit, she was challenged to freestyle her lyrical chops on the Don’t Rush riddim.

To say she nailed it would be an understatement.

In the initial unleashing of her rhymes, the Lighter deejay ferociously swaggered her dominance in the game in traditional freestyle form. Spitting clever and unexpected metaphors, diced in with a few name drops here and there, her obviously prepared delivery was sharp, quick, and spicy.

She’s a “real champion” she says just “ask Buju Banton” and “Mi sharp like a razor, do well fi dah age yah. Money fi a run like a retainer, mi want rich like Romeich Major.” [her manager]  In more lyrics, Shenseea flaunts her financial independence, “nu depend pon nuh man fi a cent” and her in-demand status among the men “wanted by many men.”

Don't blame Shenseea!'Then she adds her lethal disses to the haters and vows never to go broke again: From mi start par wid uptopboss [her Romeich Entertainment stablemate, TeeJay] mi stop fight a buss mi bus shot” and “tell bruk life say mi na come back, yuh mad!”

The singer came in for praise from all corners including fellow Dancehall artists like Shaneil Muir, Tarrus Riley, Moyann, Ding Dong and Denyque, American rapper Missy Elliot and even the Jamaican Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton.

When fans questioned whether Tufton had dropped his phone, he responded: “I sometimes think people think politicians aren’t human. In any case I Listen to ALL types of music in my down time. From classical, to religious to dancehall. This freestyle highlighted Shenseas talent – big her up for that!”

Those Nicki Minaj Comparisons

A clip from the video was posted by TheShadeRoom on Instagram where it quickly racked up over 1,000,000 views in two hours from a slightly confused and predominantly American audience.  Though many of them claimed they did not know who she was or what she was saying, they were loving it.

“This is giving me nicki minaj with jerk seasoning and im loving it 🔥😂😂🔥🔥🔥🔥,” said one IG fan.  Another agreed, “I have no idea what she said, but she said it so good,” and “Idk what she said but it’s 🔥.”

“Nicki still having kids I see lol,” one user quipped in reference to Minaj’s figurative parentage of other artists which she often brags about in her songs.  “These are the sons Nikki be talking about,” another added.

But some Jamaican fans were not standing for the snarky comments and Nicki Minaj comparisons.

Don’t try dat, Nikki flow is from Jamaica and Shenseea is str888 Jamaican, so Nikki is actually copying Jamaicans!!” one Jamaican fan clapped back.

“When shaderoom posts different cultures on their platform & some Americans comment ignorant shi that shi gets me BENT I won’t lie lol like don’t be under no Shenseea post talking bout “who?” Fkn bright b-tch get familiar!!! SHENYENG da fk?” herapatra wrote on Twitter.

Twitter user RiannaNaomi declared, “It’s amazing how The Shade Room posted Shenseea’s freestyle on their IG page and plenty of unseasoned Americans are comparing her to Nicki Minaj says she’s trying to be like her or that they can’t understand what she’s saying. No Shenseea slander will be tolerated!!!”

While Shenseea says she has been having a hard time landing collabs with female Jamaican acts, there were rumors last year May that she had secured one with Minaj.  The rumors left fans of both artists excited and hopeful for a summer release that never came.

Shenseea Ready To Release New Music For Her Fans – Radio DubplateThe singer is, however, expected to release her debut album in March or April 2021, and has said that she would be thrilled to work with stars like Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, and Mary J Blige.

And if you still don’t know Shenseea is, you can check out her singles Loodi (2017) featuring Vybz Kartel, ShenYeng Anthem (2018), Trending Gyal (2019) and her major-label debut Blessed featuring Tyga (2019).
