Reggae Sumfest 2020 Dancehall Night Available For Free Online

Reggae Sumfest 2018 Dancehall Night (Part 1 of 4) - YouTubeWith just a few hours to go before this year’s virtual staging of Reggae Sumfest, Joe Bogdanovich, CEO of Downsound Entertainment (DSE), says it will be a show not to be missed. He expressed that although it is themed ‘A Taste of Reggae Sumfest’, the show will be enough to fill the void left from the cancellation of the physical show due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We thought a lot about COVID and how it has affected us all, and after months of introspection and assessing how we will live in this world with the virus, the Sumfest team decided that this was an opportunity to put together a production that will not only entertain, but will show the Jamaican people, and the world at large, how much we value our music and our culture,” he told The Gleaner.

“There will be a lot of beauty and precision behind this show, and when you see it you will understand just why COVID-19 could not stop the show. People are going to be blown away when they see this production, because not only are the artistes coming to give it their all on stage, but those who tune in will see that in Jamaica we are capable of putting together top-notch productions, whether it’s in person or virtual.”

Show short of nothing

Tonight will be Dancehall Night and although the energy from a live audience will be missing this year, Bogdanovich says the show will be short of nothing. On the line-up for Festival Night One on this historic virtual concert are Daddy 1, Chronic Law, Frisco Kid, Chakka Demus and Pliers, Tanto Metro and Devonte, Shenseea, Teejay, Ding Dong, Konshens, Agent Sasco and Ishawna, who will be making her grand return to the Sumfest stage. “All the artistes who will be performing are going out there as if they’re standing in front of thousands of people; because although they will be in the virtual world, they’ll be present nonetheless. Dancehall Night will have its usual high-energy vibe. We have some of the biggest names in the industry and they’re coming to ‘bring it’. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this,” he said. “Ishawna is on the line-up for the first time in a number of years and she’s going to bring it. She has done so well for herself over the past few years, and we can’t wait to have her on the Sumfest stage again.

REGGAE SUMFEST — Reggae Tourist“We’ve had a few rehearsals, we’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure the show is everything people will want, and we just want them to tune in and support the event,” he continued. “It’s free to watch, so this Friday and Saturday, let’s just enjoy the best of Jamaica’s talent and forget about COVID-19 for a bit.”

The virtual production will be streamed on the Facebook: @Musicians aka Music On Facebook in partnership with Facebook, as well as on Reggae Sumfest’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube pages.
