Popular dancehall selector Tony Matterhorn is on cloud nine after successfully hosting a series of virtual parties on his Instagram live feed on the weekend.
Following up on Quarantine Fridays, Lockdown Saturdays and Pandemic Sundays, the selector is looking to add Toilet Tissue Tuesdays, starting tonight.
Matterhorn, who is currently quarantined in his home in Florida, revealed that close to 10,000 persons joined in on his session last Sunday alone, with more than 30,000 in total locked in over the three-night period. Afro B, Stylo G, Hood Celebrityy, and Gramps Morgan were among the celebrity guests who tuned in.
“I have gained about 4,600 followers and counting, and we only see this kinda growth when you create some drama or controversy,” he said. “It was refreshing to see people tuning in for something positive. There were people tuned in from all over the world, and they just wanted to experience some good music and enjoy some good vibes. I am glad I could provide that in times like these. This thing brings people together and make us thankful for being alive.”
With a ban on public gatherings in Jamaica of more than 20 people in full effect, virtual dance sessions have become the new norm on the entertainment scene.
Boasting that his is an exact replica of an actual street dance, Matterhorn revelead that he has incorporated call-ins to facilitate the women who want to ‘bruk out”.
“We nuh new to this, enuh, because memba before Instagram did even get hot, we used to host ‘After Dark’ and that show was one of the hottest shows on the Internet,” he said. “Me understand from long time how this thing work and so me have everything set up for my sessions. Me pin all me cash app account and people a send me money pull-up, US$5, $10, $20 money pull-up. It really was about making it as real as possible and me nah tell no lie, di people dem come out.”
