Dancehall star Jah Vinci’s latest single, ‘ Ganja’, is said to be generating a buzz with herb enthusiasts and music lovers worldwide. The project, which was released last month, is the brainchild of platinum award-winning producer and businessman Alexx Antaeus.
“We were very pleased to have this track mastered by Emily Lazar, the first female engineer to win a Grammy award for her work, having won the 2019 award for best Mastering Engineer,” Anteaus said.
Jah Vinci, whose given name is Kirk Rhoden, spoke about the process of making the song.
“It was a real vibes just going in the studio and hearing the riddim. From the jump, I knew it would be a hit. Alexx, being a lover of our culture and music, liked where it was going and the song came out the way we wanted. The road needs more of these songs about ganja,” he said.
According to producer Antaeus, “The idea behind Ganja is to produce a classic banger for the beloved herb. Jah Vinci’s manager, Kram, first heard the track, and along with mega producer Not Nice, suggested we work together.”
Jah Vinci is a true mainstay of the ever-evolving danchall industry now, having received his initial fame as part of Vybz Kartel’s Gaza crew before developing into an established hitmaker in his own right.
“Welcoming Jah Vinci into the Riddim Travelers project is a perfect fit and an honour. World Singer, as we call him, was a perfect choice for Ganja, which, by the way, I co-wrote with Erinski Easy. I am now in the studio producing an electro/breakbeat remix of Ganja, which will probably be the riddim for the upcoming Ganja video,” Antaeus said.
Ganja is the lead single off the upcoming album, Kingston 10, by Riddim Travelers. The album, due later this year, features a variety of top artistes including Tommy Lee Sparta, Grammy nominee Devin di Dakta, Kim Nain, and more. Listeners are in for a real treat, with music suited for all musical palettes on the album.
