Pamputtae’s Single Mothers Foundation To Launch Saturday

Dancehall artiste Pamputtae said that having witnessed the impact her song, ‘ Single Mothers’ was having on women everywhere, she knew she had to do more.

She decided to start the Single Mothers Foundation, and in March, she embarked on her first philanthropic project at the Mustard Seed Children’s Home.

At the time, the foundation was still in its infancy.

Since then, she has registered the charity, and as the world gets ready to celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday, Pamputtae is getting ready to officially launch the foundation.

The launch is set for tomorrow at C&C South Beach Cafe on Brompton Road in St Andrew at 3 p.m.

The entertainer told THE WEEKEND STAR that since she made mention of her plans to start a foundation, she has been bombarded by women in need of assistance.

Pamputtae said that the number of persons who need help with basic amenities for their children is “overwhelming” and has reinforced the need for her foundation.

I can’t wait to help more women because as a single mother, I know how real the struggle is. I’m in a better place now in my life, and I see where I can help, and I just want to do that,” she said. “Da foundation here is not a joke thing. Me never a play when me say me did a go make it happen. Me register it, people love the idea and want to help me help these women. I’m getting a lot of support, and I’m happy that I can finally get things going the right way.”

Pamputtae said she deliberately planned the launch for the day before Mother’s Day.

“We wanted people to come out and donate items knowing that they were going to make someone else’s Mother’s day very happy. We also wanted kids and their mothers to come out, do some shopping, because we will have items on sale for Mother’s Day, some nice custom-made things. So if you’re there and you nuh get no gift for your mother yet, you can do your shopping on the spot,” she said.

She revealed that there will be a ‘mommy and me’ pop-up shop on the day where gift items will be on sale. She is also asking persons to walk with donations; everything from pampers and clothes to toys will be accepted.
