A ‘Singy Singy-Less’ Sumfest

Tarrus Riley will be a no-show at this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest, according to his handlers.

The annual reggae festival is slated for July 14-20 in Montego Bay, St James.

The singer’s management team was quick to point out the decision had nothing to do with money.

“We regrettably announce that Tarrus Riley will not be at Reggae Sumfest 2019 due to failure of the festival honouring their obligations as agreed upon by both parties. We want to make clear that this has nothing to do with money, but everything to do with honouring and upholding an agreement, which plays a vital role in elevating Jamaican music and a brand after so many years of hard work,” said a statement sent to the Jamaica Observer.

As we all know, Tarrus gives a 1,000 per cent. All we ask is for binding parties to reciprocate and keep their end of the deal. This is still our music, our culture, and our festival; keep the fire burning and continue to be strong and never stop believing in yourself,” it concluded.

Born in the US, Tarrus Riley is the son reggae singer Jimmy Riley.

He is known for hit songs including She’s Royal, Gimme Little One Drop and Lion Paw.
