Buju Banton Foundation Launched With Aim To Help Less Fortunate Youths

Buju BantonBuju Banton Foundation was recently launched with the aim to help youths who are at higher risk of falling victim to the system.

The Gargamel has been home two months now, and already he hits the ground running. He was released from federal prison in Georgia on December 7th and flew to Jamaica the same day. The Grammy-winning singer is now rehearsing for his highly anticipated first post-prison concert in Kingston on March 16. In between takes, Buju Banton is working with his foundation to help at-risk youths.

“Born in abject poverty I know what it is for a child to go without basic necessities,” Buju said in a statement sent to Urban Islandz. “I also know what it is to be a youth with big dreams and lots of determination. Unfortunately, daunted and unable to achieve your destiny, due to lack of a helping hand. It is not an easy road, my children. However, Jah has blessed me. I have made it my mission through the Buju Banton Foundation, to help, by giving light to youth living in the darkness of poverty. Through the provision of food, clothing, healthcare, and education. Thus ensuring they too have equal opportunities to succeed.”

Buju Banton further stated that he has never forgotten where he came from and now want to help youth rise from poverty and better their lives. The singer credited his love for music which enabled him to persevere, and he wants to use his voice and his music to send positives messages.
