Chino Plans JA Comeback 2019

McGregor, the son of veteran singer Freddie McGregor, acknowledged that he has not been on the charts in a while but said that is about to change.

“We’ve been spending a lot of time outside of Jamaica, performing and touring. I’m really grateful and thankful that a lot of the seeds planted are now bearing fruit,” he said.

The most fruitful period of his career was the late-2000s when he scored a string of hit songs, including Protected (with his brother, Di Genius); Put No Woman Pon Yuh Head, From Mawning (Never Change), and Girls Dem Straight.

“Fortunately for myself, I have been blessed with a catalogue which has stood the test of time. I’m just growing and building on the foundation that we have,” said McGregor.

The first quarter of 2019 will see the release of his EP, which is still untitled. The project will feature seven songs including the lead single Gal Factory, which is to be released next week.

Great Minds Think Alike, a collaboration album with his brother, is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2019.

“It will have about 12 tracks and there will be a few surprises as well,” McGregor hinted. His only album, Unstoppable, was released in 2007.

McGregor scored his first hit song in 1999 when he teamed with deejay Kip Rich on Leggo Di Bwoy, which was produced by Stone Cold Records.

He spoke about his growth as an artiste.

“I think I have evolved over the time. Naturally, I have matured mentally and lyrically because I have gotten more mature. You can see it in my performances because I have been touring a lot and I have been getting good reception.”
