I-Octane hopes To Cop Grammy Nomination

International recording artiste

I-Octane is hoping to cop one of the five nominations up for grabs at next year’s Grammy Awards.

The Hot World singer has submitted his Love & Life album for consideration in the Best Reggae Album category and will have to wait a few more weeks to see if he has gained a nomination.

The entertainer explained that a nomination would mean the world to him, as it would validate his decade-long career and would be his reward for all the hills and valleys he’s faced on his musical journey.

“No matter who you are, life is peaks and valleys and so for me, a Grammy would reward that path. I guess it would be an acknowledgement of my hard work and sacrifices. It would also solidify my brand, it’s icing on a cake,” he said.

Pointing out that the album incorporates both dancehall and reggae, the entertainer said the project represents his growth as a musician and hopes the Recording Academy will recognise the latter.

“This was an independent project, it bridges dancehall and reggae. It is a different side of me,” he said. “I, as I-Octane, am not a one-dimensional artiste and this album shows the growth and the perspective of my mind where I am today. I think fans of music appreciate and can relate to at least one song. This album means the world to me.”

Love & Life debuted at number three on the Reggae Billboard charts and has been labelled by some music critics as the artiste’s best work to date.
