JAMBANA One World Festival to provide fun for entire family

The JAMBANA One World Festival has become a must-attend event on the summer calendar.

Designed around the Village experience, the family-friendly event offers world-class entertainment, engaging activities for children, business opportunities in the Travel and Trade Village, information on living well in the Health Village and the Lick A Six domino tournament – a knock out competition – in the Domino Village.

Now celebrating its eighth year, JAMBANA features an exciting lineup of vintage through current reggae artists, international and Canadian. The sounds of Roots, Dancehall, Gospel, Ska and Lover’s rock will have fans of all ages engaged.

This year’s JAMBANA One World Festival experience, held over two days, includes a stellar list of Reggae’s finest, including Lover’s Rocker, Glen Washington; Judy Mowatt, former member of Bob Marley’s I Threes; Roots artist, Jahmali and cultural dancehaller, Lady G.

JUNO nominees Ammoye and Lyndon John X will join “Tribute to the Legends” artistes Chester Miller in his Dennis Brown Salute and Mr. Cooper paying tribute to Gregory Isaacs. Two-time JUNO winner Blessed will also join King Shadrock, who will bring the Buju Banton vibes to JAMBANA.

On the second day of the festival, two-time Grammy nominee Yellowman and his Sagittarius band will share the bill with Mikey Spice and four-time JUNO winner Exco Levi, whose current single and video “Siren” are making rounds in reggae circles. Steele and JUNO winner Nana McLean will also perform at JAMBANA.

MCs for both days are Master T, the iconic Barry G from Jamaica, Allan Jones, Delroy G and DJ Cool. Spinning for dancing pleasure are 16-year-old sensation DJ Joshua Lucas and Rosa from Soul 2 Soul who will be honoured at JAMBANA this year for 50 years as a reggae DJ. Sattalites co-founder Jo Jo Bennett is also being honoured.

Presented by Jones & Jones Productions, the JAMBANA One World Festival will be held on Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1 at Markham Fair Grounds, 10801 McCowan Road at Elgin Mills, Markham. The festival runs from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. both days and doors open at 12 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale in outlets across the GTA. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketgateway.com. General Admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door. VIP tickets are $50 and include complimentary dinner and drinks and seating at tables in the exclusive VIP Village at the front of the grounds.
